In this article we learn to set up the DB-Tuner bass bridge, the bridge that allows players to instantly drop their low E string to a tuning of their choice!

HOW TO ADJUST DB-TUNER:

1. Push De-Tuning lever all the way forward (towards the neck) and tune the E string with the normal tuning knob (located at back end of tuner).

2. Flip-up De-Tuning lever to back position and use de-tuning knob (on top of tuner) to set lower pitch. Although D is generally preferred, your patented Steinberger DB-Tuner unit will de-tune to any lower pitch down to low B if desired.

IMPORTANT:

  • When tuning to E (forward lever position) always use NORMAL tuning knob located on the back/end of bridge ONLY.
  • When activating the De-Tuning lever and tuning to the lower pitch (back lever posit ion), always use de-tuning knob on top ONLY.

NOTE:

  • Friction of the De-Tuning KNOB can be easily adjusted with the 1.5 mm hex-head (Allen) set screw located on the side just behind lever.

  • A 1.5 mm hex-head (Allen) set screw for friction of de-tuning LEVER is located on the back just to the side of the normal tuning knob.
  • These should be adjusted so both the lever and the knob have a slight friction for smooth, stable operation.
  • Both can be adjusted using a 1.5mm Allen or hex wrench.

HOW TO ADJUST STRING ACTION:

1. Loosen the locking Allen or hex set screw on the side of the bridge. Use 2mm alien wrench.

2. Turn setscrews on top of saddles to adjust string height.

3. Tighten locking setscrew.

HOW TO ADJUST INTONATION:

  1. Loosen locking setscrew on the side of bridge.
  2. Slide saddles to adjust string length.
  3. If pitch is sharp at the 12th fret, move saddle back (away from the neck). If pitch is flat at 12th fret, move saddle forward (towards the neck).
